Our story

Growing up in Ventura County, the ocean was always our playground, home, and ultimate classroom. Our paths officially crossed while working as surf instructors for the Mary Osborne Surf Academy, where a shared love for the water quickly grew into a true love story. Together, we’ve traveled the globe making memories and chasing the endless summer, but nothing compares to the joy of bringing that feeling back home and sharing it with others.

What drives us isn't just teaching the mechanics of surfing—it's connecting with people from all walks of life, calming ocean nerves, and being right there in the water to witness the pure high of someone catching their very first wave. We bring our full hearts, years of local ocean knowledge, and a warm, fun energy to every single session. When you surf with EZ Surf Academy, you aren't just getting an instructor; you're joining our ocean family, guided by two people who truly live for passing on the stoke.

Mary Osborne didn’t just teach people how to surf; she reshaped what surf culture in Ventura could be. As a professional surfer, world traveler, and ocean advocate, Mary broke barriers in a male-dominated sport and spent over 20 years creating a welcoming space where women, youth, and families felt empowered to step into the lineup with total confidence. Her dedication to high-caliber safety standards, environmental consciousness, and community mentorship set the absolute gold standard for surf academies worldwide.

Having taught under Mary for years, we’ve internalized every value, safety protocol, and personal touch that made her academy a local institution. As Elieah and Zack officially take the helm as EZ Surf Academy, we do so with immense gratitude for her mentorship. We are committed to protecting the community-first heart of this academy while continuing her lifelong mission of making the ocean accessible, empowering, and life-changing for everyone.
